The problem

Most wellness sessions leave no lasting impact.

Your employees have heard the advice — drink more water, sleep eight hours, take the stairs. Sound familiar?

A presentation that delivers tips without a system produces good intentions and temporary feelings that fade within days. What changes behavior is a framework — one simple enough to start immediately, structured enough to sustain, and understanding that as professionals, we are all busy.

That's the gap Black and Gold Consulting fills. Every session gives employees a transferable method they can apply to any area of their health, starting this week.

What HR leaders say

"

We've done wellness sessions before. People enjoy them, but nothing really changes.

"

Our team is burning out. We need something that actually helps, not just a box to check.

"

I want to invest in our people. I need something I can justify to leadership.

The methodology

The STEADY Framework

A six-principle behavior change system grounded in positive psychology, habit science, and identity-based change. Applied across every session and every topic area.

S

Simplify the behavior

Big goals are nice to have, but can be overwhelming. Daily, specific actions compound, making things feel manageable.

T

Track what matters

What gets measured improves. We'll discuss what resources you can use to recognize your progress.

E

Engineer the environment

Willpower is unreliable, but your surroundings are programmable. We'll cover how to design your environment so the right choice is the easiest choice.

A

Align with identity

Lasting change comes from what you identify with. We'll go over best psychology practices to align your vision with your goals.

D

Design for consistency

One percent better every day outperforms 10% better one day per month. Attendees will take away actions that can make them more consistent when it comes to taking care of their health.

Y

Yield results over time

None of this happens overnight. We'll learn how to stay patient if goals take longer than anticipated, and what other positive takeaways you can find along the way.

What we cover

Five pillars of workforce wellness

Each session applies the STEADY framework to one evidence-based topic area. Before every engagement, we research your workforce — their roles, environment, and specific demands — so every session speaks directly to the people in the room.

01

Stress and mental resilience

The science of chronic versus acute stress, evidence-based resilience strategies, and micro-recovery habits for the workday. Grounded in cognitive-behavioral research.

02

Positive psychology and mindset

Research from Penn's Positive Psychology Center. The PERMA model, character strengths, and evidence-based interventions applied to everyday work and engagement.

03

Sleep and recovery

Why sleep is the most underrated performance lever at work. Practical steps to protect and improve sleep quality without a clinical intervention or lifestyle overhaul.

04

Nutrition and energy

Nutrition is the key to sustained energy and long-term health. Strategies for avoiding the peaks and valleys that impair focus and mood throughout the day.

05

Movement and physical fitness

The case for movement throughout the day, both at home and at work. Breaking sedentary patterns with habits that fit any schedule, any job type, and any fitness level.

About

Martin Foley

Most wellness presenters are strong at health or strong at communication. Martin has done both professionally.

He has spent over a decade in strategic communications — recently working for a large utility company where he shaped internal communications reaching a workforce of more than 8,000 employees across 60 locations. He knows what cuts through to a large, diverse workforce because building that kind of communication was his job.

He holds three NASM certifications and is completing the University of Pennsylvania's Foundations of Positive Psychology specialization. Every claim in a Black and Gold session traces to peer-reviewed research.

Personally, Martin has run four marathons, lost over 50 pounds at two different points in his life, and runs a personal training practice, Steady Man Fitness. In 2022, he ran the Boston Marathon to raise $10,067 for The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health, organizing five events and engaging 168 donors in conversations about mental health awareness.

"Black and Gold Consulting is named for my grandfather — a West Point graduate and an orthodontist for more than 40 years. We bonded over Army football. He spent his career making people healthier, one patient at a time. This practice is built in that spirit."
